This policy applies to the Attuned mobile app (Android and iOS) and the attunedapp.io website. Attuned exists to help you and your partner stay more connected. That only works if you trust us with honest, private input — so we take that trust seriously. Here's exactly what we collect, how we use it, and what we'll never do with it.

What we collect
When you use Attuned, we collect:
- Account info — your email address and the profile details you provide during onboarding
- Onboarding answers — your responses to setup questions about communication style, preferences, and needs
- Your conversations with Attuned — every message you send and every reply, kept so the AI has continuity and you can scroll back
- Journal entries — anything you write in your private journal
- Check-in responses — your answers to daily and periodic check-ins
- Health and cycle information — only what you type in yourself, and only if you choose to. You are asked before any of it is collected.
- What the AI infers about you — summaries and themes it draws from your messages and journal entries, so it does not have to re-read everything each time
- Push notification tokens — so we can send you nudges and reminders
- Device info — basic device type and OS version to keep the app running smoothly
How we use it
Everything we collect serves one purpose: powering the AI that helps you show up better for each other.
Specifically, your data helps Attuned:
- Generate personalized nudges tailored to what your partner actually needs
- Learn each partner's preferences, patterns, and communication style over time
- Personalize check-ins so they stay relevant and useful
- Adapt to health cycles, stress, and energy levels (when you share that data)
We never sell your data. We never use it for advertising. There are no ads in Attuned, and there never will be.
The privacy wall
This is the part that matters most.
Your private data is never visible to your partner. Journal entries, check-in responses, health data, onboarding answers — none of it is shared between accounts. Ever.
The AI reads your private input to understand what you need and to generate better nudges for your partner. But it never exposes your raw words, your journal entries, or your individual responses. Your partner gets the benefit of your honesty without seeing the details.
This isn't a setting you can toggle. It's how the system is built.
Where your data lives
Attuned runs on Cloudflare infrastructure — specifically D1 (database), KV (key-value storage), and Durable Objects (real-time coordination). Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
We don't store data on personal servers or in someone's garage. Cloudflare's global network provides enterprise-grade security and reliability.
Third parties
We work with a small number of services to make Attuned function. Here's the full list:
- Anthropic — provides the AI that powers chat, journalling and nudges. Your messages, journal entries and profile context are sent to Anthropic to generate responses. Per their API terms, they do not train on data sent through the API.
- OpenAI — used as a fallback when Anthropic is unavailable, so the app keeps working during an outage. The same content is sent, for the same purpose, and their API terms likewise exclude training on it.
- Resend — sends transactional email: your sign-in code, invitations, and deletion confirmations.
- Expo — delivers push notifications, and provides basic app usage and crash diagnostics through Expo Insights.
- Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) — required to deliver push notifications on Android devices.
- HubSpot — stores the email address you submit through the beta signup form on this website. This applies to the website only, not the app.
We do not use ad networks or data brokers, and we do not sell your data or share it for advertising. We do collect basic usage and crash diagnostics through Expo Insights so we can tell when the app is broken.
Permissions the app requests
Attuned only asks for permissions it actually needs. On Android and iOS those are:
- Notifications — so we can deliver the nudges and check-ins that are the core of the product. You can revoke this any time in your OS settings.
- Network access — required to sync your data with the Attuned backend.
- Health information (optional) — Attuned does not connect to Apple Health or Android Health Connect, and does not read anything from them. Cycle and health information is only what you type into the app yourself, if you choose to. You are asked for consent before any of it is collected, and you can turn it off in Settings.
We do not request access to your contacts, photos, location, microphone, or camera.
Your data, your account, your control
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. We aim to complete deletion requests within 30 days, and we delete from production immediately (backups are purged on their normal rotation).
Two ways to delete:
- In the app — open Attuned, go to You → Delete account, and confirm with your email address. Deletion is scheduled seven days out so you can cancel if you change your mind, and you can cancel from that same screen at any point before it runs.
- By email — send a deletion request from the email address on your account to support@attunedapp.io with the subject "Delete my account". We'll confirm once it's done.
What gets deleted: your profile, onboarding answers, journal entries, check-in responses, push tokens, any optional health/cycle data, and any AI memory derived from your input. What we may keep: minimal billing records where required by law, and aggregate, fully anonymized usage counts that cannot be linked back to you.
While your account is active, your data is retained so the app can keep working. We don't sell, rent, or share it with anyone outside the third parties listed above.
Children
Attuned is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we'll remove it promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to how we handle your data, we'll notify you through the app and update this page. We won't quietly change the rules.
