Reconnect with your partner after a busy week
When life has kept you both running, it’s easy to feel like flatmates. A few small moves can bring you back.
Some weeks you mostly talk about pickups, groceries and who’s doing what. By Friday you feel more like co-workers than partners. It happens to almost every couple with full lives, and it’s fixable.
Start with attention
Reconnecting doesn’t need a big gesture. Ten minutes of real attention, phones away and no lists, often does more than an expensive night out.
Reconnecting doesn’t need a date night. It needs ten minutes without a list.
Ask something that isn’t logistics
“What was the best part of your week?” or “What’s been on your mind lately?” opens a different kind of conversation. You might be surprised how long it’s been since either of you asked.
Do something side by side
Connection doesn’t only happen face to face. Cooking together, a walk, a shared show or a small project can bring you back into the same rhythm without pressure to talk.
Touch base, literally
A long hug, sitting close on the couch, holding hands on a walk. Small physical contact is one of the quickest ways back to feeling like a team.
Protect a little time
If busy weeks are the norm, put one small thing in the calendar every week that’s just for the two of you. It doesn’t need to be special. It needs to happen.
